Former United States Senator Gary Hart would have won the 1984 Democratic Presidential nomination had he not been exposed regarding his extramarital affairs. Michael "Mike" a.k.a. "Iron Mike" Tyson would have been the greatest heavyweight boxer if not the greatest boxer of all time had he not succumbed to his manliness like womanizing, partying and other luxuries. Alexander the Great would have probably conquered the whole world had it not been of his drinking addiction. The three of them have one in common and that is ... lack of self-discipline.
Inacio "Lula" da Silva became an outstanding president of Brazil notwithstanding the fact that he did not even finish his elementary education. He became a laborer, entered a labor union, became an official of the union, entered politics and became one of the most effective presidents Brazil ever had. His success would not have been possible had it not been of his zeal and zest to be a good laborer, good labor leader, and good politician. Besides he did not indulge himself in any scandal which would have affected his career as a labor and political leader, therefore you can safely say that da Silva has so much self discipline in himself.
Now, the people that I have enumerated above can be models for us on whether or not we may succeed in the fields of endeavors we have to choose. It is up for us to follow the footsteps of Hart, Alexander the Great and Tyson whose glories were cut short because of recklessness or follow the harder way of da Silva towards the pinnacle of success because of SELF DISCIPLINE.
