BANGSAMORO BASIC LAW : GROUND FOR MORO STATEHOOD

 by Felizar Mortillero
Political Law experts would define a STATE as a group of people more or less numerous, occupying a definite portion of territory, independent from external control and has a government to which the inhabitants render habitual obedience. In view of this definition a STATE is composed of the following components  : 1) People; 2) Territory; 3) Sovereignty and 4) Government.
Incidentally these components of STATEHOOD are present in the proposed BANGSAMORO BASIC LAW as a matter of fact there are PEOPLE in the proposed Bangsamoro member provinces and cities, there is a definite portion of TERRITORY being outlined in the said proposed law, there is a proposed system of GOVERNMENT and that is Parliamentary System in the said bill, SOVEREIGNTY is also present since the national government is concurrent in some aspects only.

If this bill be passed as a law, then this future law would then be a ground for the Bangsamoro people to declare their homeland as an independent state out of the Philippine Republic and would lessen the territory of the same, hence the Philippines' chances of becoming a vital cog in Southeast Asia, Asian Continent and even International politics would be affected.

In view of the foregoing premises and arguments, I am calling all Philippine Congress people, Senators and Congressmen alike to reconsider their stand with regard to the passage of the BANGSAMORO BASIC LAW, and asking further the Philippine Supreme Court to nullify the same if this be passed by CONGRESS on the ground of unconstitutionality and for lack of patriotism to those who are pushing it.
